Meet the Band

Jody Buck
Guitar/Vocals
Jody has been passionate about music from a young age, geeking out about everything from 80’s metal to marching bands. She has had the pleasure of previously performing and collaborating with acts just as versatile, such as the female indie trio Great Ants, singing and playing ukulele as Pierogi Pizza, and playing the flute in a church band. Jody jammed alongside Paulette and Amy in the band’s original incarnation, Moldies and Monsters around 2010, and had no idea that we would be at it again 15 years later!

Joe Tarowsky
Bass/Drums
Joe was born in Wheeling, WV and grew up just across the river in Belmont County, OH. Joe brings years of musical experience on drums, bass, guitar, and vocals. When he’s not playing with Moldies, you might catch him performing in his band, Creedmoors. A former college mascot (with a fleeting but glorious ESPN2 cameo), Joe now gets his energy from Tim Horton’s coffee—though he still hasn’t committed to a Sheetz card, and probably should.

Brad Barron
Drums/Bass
Brad brings over 40 years of musical experience as a versatile percussionist and player of things with strings. Brad also brings the most fashionable shoes and the best dance moves to the band. In addition to Moldies, he’s part of The Bridge City Scouts and often plays with Jody's brother, Jeff Perigo. Offstage, Brad enjoys spending time with his daughter, skiing, and gardening.

Dale Mangold
Tenor Sax
Dale is a powerhouse performer and multi-instrumentalist best known for his soulful tenor sax. Equally at home on guitar, bass, piano, drums, and vocals, he brings seasoned stage presence and infectious energy to every show. Beyond The Moldies, Dale writes and produces for Forrest Of Fanghorn and The Argonauts, and performs with Pitt Floyd, RTC, and DangerZone. A musical theatre veteran and creative storyteller, he also makes comedy shorts and enjoys exploring new places — alongside his eight beloved cats.

Matt Needles
Alto/Tenor Sax
Matt is a science nerd with a passion for music. Known for bringing a classic, jazzy feel to his playing, Matt also plays with the Argonauts, a nine-piece funk, soul, and rock & roll band, and Rocketman & the Spacebabies, an acoustic, instrumental trio. When he's not on stage, Matt is a high school science teacher who enjoys trivia and running.

Darcy Lyle
Trumpet/Keys
Darcy has been making music since childhood, beginning piano lessons as a toddler and falling in love with the trumpet in fourth grade. She earned a BFA in Music from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Darcy currently plays cornet with the 30-piece Allegheny Brass Band, performing British and American brass band repertoire as a utility player on cornet, soprano cornet, and flugel horn. Outside of music, she is a yoga teacher and homemaker, a mother/stepmother to four wonderful humans, an avid gardener, designer, and outdoor adventurer who enjoys camping, hiking, slacklining, rock climbing, and snowboarding.

Pete Vilter
Trombone
Pete brings the bold brass voice of the trombone to the band. Originally from outside Philadelphia, he joined Moldies shortly after moving to Pittsburgh in April 2025. He’s been playing since elementary school, with experience in NYC brass bands, trad jazz jams, and many trips to New Orleans. Offstage, Pete works as a software engineer and enjoys swing dancing and time with friends and family.

Amy Urban
Vocals
Amy is spreading the musical love to the next generation at the McKeesport Area School District where she teaches elementary general music. An original member of Moldies and Monsters alongside Jody and Paulette, Amy puts her heart into the songs she knows so well. Outside the classroom and the stage, she proudly claims her spot in the Slow Runner’s Club and celebrates every hard-earned, crowned victory on Fortnite.

Paulette Poullet
Vocals
Paulette opens her home each week for rehearsal, providing hospitality, snacks, and a quick sense of humor.
